How to Create the Perfect Signature Speech

In my last blog, we discussed what a signature speech is and what makes it important. Today we will share an easy, clear, customer-centric and memorable presentation, using these seven simple steps to help you get started:
Open with a question or a story to capture the audience’s attention (Facts tell, stories sell).

Describe how you decided to start your business (It’s about them, not you. How does your journey help them?)

Let them know what you are going to cover in your speech (simple bullet points of what you will cover).

Next move into your three to five key points (four is ideal for a 30- to 45-minute talk) with examples, stories and case studies to illustrate your points. (“Every point should have a story and every story should have a point” – Les Brown)

Recap what you just told them (Tell them what you told them).

Close with a powerful quote or story, as well as a Call to Action on your teaching (Use photos or graphics, rather than many words).

Thank them for having you and invite them to the back of the room to sign up for your Free Tip Sheet, your book, and a sample your products!

When you give your speech, make sure to bring enough product to sell or enough samples to go around (and order forms, if you are selling services), so you can monetize your time with or without a speaker fee. This is a win-win for you and the organizer, and it makes it much easier for you to get booked.
